Celebrate Today with Some Green Back in Your Pocket

On this day of green, cash back site is celebrating, by doubling already high cash back rates at their site on the below merchants.  TopCashback strives to regular give back as much as possible to consumers and frequently ranks the highest at sites like Cashback Monitor.

The site also strives to save you time and money, for doing savings stacking, by finding you eligible coupon codes that could work for your purchases as well.  We have definitely had success with this site in the past.  Sometimes cash back doesn’t necessarily post right away, and may show as pending, so it does take some patience.  But unlike some sites, once it posts, you can cash out whatever amount you want, vs having to wait to hit a certain dollar threshold.

Amazon News: Have 5% of Your Purchases Go To Charity and Alexa Coming Soon to your iOS Device

To celebrate their #1 ranking on the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), today only, March 16, Amazon is donating 5% (10 times their usual donation rate) of the purchase price of eligible products you buy at AmazonSmile.  It’s the same shopping experience as what you get normally on the site, but the difference instead is that each purchase you make can help to support a charity of your choice.  To date, the company says that they have donated over $46 million.  At a time when many non profits and charities aren’t sure of what funds and funding they may receive down the road, now is the chance to make a pretty good impact!
Then in other news, according to VentureBeat, starting today, and soon to all iPhone users next week, you will be able to talk to Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa while using the Amazon app.  Of course, the AI assistant will be able to assist you with your shopping and tracking of those Amazon Prime orders, but it can also mimic many of the things a regular Alexa unit like the Echo can already do, such as tell jokes, provide updates about the weather, play music, control your Smart Home devices and more.

Wonder how Siri will feel about this?

UPDATE: While the Smile promotion may have ended, we here at Script-Notes would like to encourage you to still consider going this method when making purchases.  Charities can always use revenue for their causes!

McDonald’s Starting To Roll Out Mobile Ordering

You may soon be able to get the french fries of the golden arches soon via your smart phone.  According to Reuters, McDonald’s Corporation is starting to test its U.S. mobile ordering app, hoping to avoid some of the initial troubles that have haunted fast food chains like Starbucks Corp.  Mobile ordering proved to be so popular for Starbucks, that it would create queues that would drive away walk-in customers who preferred not to wait it out.

“We can’t impact the speed or the quality of our food,” mentioned Jim Sappington, McDonald’s executive vice president of operations, digital and technology.  He brings about the example of if mobile customers should have to wait for orders, “you get a question of ‘Why did I use the app?’,” he says.  “Our focus is to make the overall experience clearly better.”

The company says that the automation enhancements should assist in reducing transaction times, error and free up employees to be able to bring food to tables or cars in spots that are designated for mobile order.

So when can you expect to see this?

The company plans to begin testing the mobile ordering process and payment app at 29 restaurants in Monterey and Salinas, California today.  After that, the pilot test will roll out to an additional 51 restaurants in Spokane, Washington, on March 20.

A unique feature to the app will be that it will be able to track a customer’s location to ensure that orders for one, get sent to the right restaurant, but that it is also timed so that food isn’t left to it’s own devices under heat lamps.  Then, when the customer arrives, the app will ask for confirmation and payment before sending any orders into the kitchen.  As one investor asked, “if they don’t start your order until you pull in the lot, are you really gaining that much time?”  The finalized version of the app will also allow customers to choose table service, counter or drive-through pickup, or curbside delivery.

Interestingly, McDonald’s Chief Exec Steve Easterbrook mentions that if 20 percent of drive-through customers use curbside and another 20 percent use the lanes for pickup only, restaurants could serve another 20 cars per hour, which would lift business at U.S. drive-throughs that account for approximately 70 percent of sales in the country.

Free Guac at Chipotle for T-Mobile Customers

One of my favorite things about being a T-Mobile customer is not only have we been able to save quite a bit on data usage, but a unique exclusive is their ongoing T-Mobile Tuesdays promotions where customers have been able to score some free swag.  I was even able to pick up some free magenta socks for my wife recently from our local store.  While some customers were previously able to enjoy a Tuesday pizza with Papa John’s, the mobile giant switched up today where the majority of customers should be able to get free guac at Chipotle with chips!

T-Mobile customers can also have a chance to win the below, but the majority should win at least the free guac and chips:

Additionally, players will also have a chance to win the items listed below for free:
Chipotle For a Year
Chipotle For 20 Friends
Chipotle Dinner for Two

HelloFresh Freebies Available!

As I had made mention in an earlier post from last week, grocery home delivery is starting to pick up in popularity, as evidenced by major retailer Meijer recognizing this, as well as the availability of Amazon Fresh available in select markets.

Well, not too long ago, we thought we might try this out as well, and chose HelloFresh to start with.  Needless to say, the meals have been quite tasty, including entrees like Crusted Pork Chops with Brussel Sprouts and Cranberries to Tater Chicken Pot Pie as well as Butter Basted Steaks with Spinach.  We’re anxiously awaiting our next delivery tomorrow!  It has certainly helped save time (and money) I’m sure to be able to have everything perfectly portioned out.

That said, I received a message today saying I have four freebies that I can send out, where you can try a box for free yourself!  If you are interested, please leave a comment below.  The first four comments that I receive, I will send the link to for the free box.  Once all emails go out, I will update the post accordingly.  Should you miss out, feel free to use the link on the opportunities page under Hello Fresh, and still get $40 off your first order!
